July 12, 2016, was the official release date for the Sage 50 2017 Accounting US version. Over the next few weeks, those of you who have a current subscription or Business Care plan will see the upgrade offer up as automatic updates like 2016.1 and 2016.2 updates or payroll tax updates. As always, upgrades must be installed first on the server and then on each workstation. If you are not satisfied setting up the upgrade yourself, call or email us to schedule an appointment.
Setup, Download, and Installation of Sage 50 2017 Accounting
Here you know the process of Sage 50 download and installation. How can you install Sage 50 on a single system, workstation, and installation server?

Downloading Sage 50:
- Click Download Now in Email.
- Next, tap on “Run this File”.
- When prompted tap to “Run” the Sage 50
- Now, click “OK” for Sage Download Manager to download the Sage 50 2016 file to your computer.
- Once the download is complete check the box to launch the setup.
- The Sage 50 product will be downloaded to your computer.
- The download time will depend on your internet connection.
- The setup process will start automatically after the download is complete.
- This method creates the Sage 50 install folder on your computer.
- Once this is done, the software upgrade will be installed.
Installing on a single/standalone computer
Note: It is advised to install the program path at C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage\Peachtree.
- Run the downloaded installation file.
- If you receive the prompt, select to establish the required requirements for Sage 50 Accounting.
- Turn off Anti-Virus, and then tap on Next.
- Agree to the license contract and then tap on Next.
- Choose the Auto Configure Windows Firewall to authorize the Sage 50 Install and Run (Advised) box and then tap on Next.
- Note: The box will be grayed out if Windows Firewall is disabled.
- Confirm or enter your serial number, and then tap on Next.
- At the prompt will it be the only computer running Sage 50? Choose Yes and then tap on Next.
- Select the location of Program Files and Company Data Files on the Install option and then click Install.
- Finish the installation
Installing on the Server
- Download program installation
- Run the downloaded installation file and follow the indication to install.
- When asked whether it will be the only computer to run Sage 50? Choose No, and then click Next.
- On the Sage 50 Company Data Files Storage screen, this is the computer server and then tap on Next.
- Confirm the installation option and proceed with the installation on the server.
- On the Sharing Company Data screen, choose Share Folder, and then tap on Next. Mind the articles listed below to share the proper folder with the valid permissions.
- Note: The Sharing Company Data screen contains a link to view important information required while setting up Sage 50 on your network.
- Finish the installation (there is a link to Read the Release notes) let the program open and activate.
- Open each company and allow the data to be changed to the new version.
Installing on workstations
Quick tips for setting up a network
- Always install it on the server first.
- The program must be established on every computer that will use Sage unless you are in a Terminal Services environment.
- You can use Network Installation Manager to install on multiple PCs at once: Start the installation on the first workstation and then move on to the next
- Network Installation Manager won’t work on wireless networks
- When installing using the downloaded Sage 50 installer the destination folder is where the install files will be extracted: this is not a place.
- If working in a domain environment it may be essential to set the valid Windows permissions on the PeachtreeInstaller20xx folder for the Network Installation Manager to run.
- Sage 50 Pro Accounting is not multi-user compatible: however, Sage 50 Premium and Sage 50 Quantum Accounting are multi-user compatible.
- The following steps will be required to start the installation via Remote Desktop Connection or virtual machine:
- Press the Windows+R keys.
- Type %temp%, and then click OK.
- Double-tap on the RarSFX0 folder.
- Double-tap on the Peachw folder.
- Double-tap on the Install folder.
- Right-tap on _setup.exe, and then choose Run as administrator.
Quick Advice for Upgrading
- If you decide not to replace the older release, but transform your data to the newer version, you will be unable to use data from earlier releases.
- When installing using the downloaded Sage 50 installer, the destination folder is where the install files will be extracted. This is not a replacement for previous releases. The pre-installation location is automatically detected during the installation wizard.
- Installing/Uninstalling Sage does not delete or change your company data.
- The first time you open a company it will be changed to be compatible with the new version.
Activate the Sage 50 product
If the program is on a network, perform these steps on the server.
- Open Sage 50.
- The activation prompt may appear. If not, select Help, Sage 50 Activation, Licensing, and Subscription Options.

Setup, Download, and Installation of Sage 50 2016 Accounting
Here you know the process of Sage 50 download and installation. How can you install Sage 50 on a single system, workstation, and installation server?
Downloading Sage 50:
- Click Download Now in Email.
- Next, tap on “Run this File”.
- When prompted tap to “Run” the Sage 50
- Now, click “OK” for Sage Download Manager to download the Sage 50 2016 file to your computer.
- Once the download is complete check the box to launch the setup.
- The Sage 50 product will be downloaded to your computer.
- The download time will depend on your internet connection.
- The setup process will start automatically after the download is complete.
- This method creates the Sage 50 install folder on your computer.
- Once this is done, the software upgrade will be installed.
Sage 50 Install Folder Setup:
- Sage 50 Accounting 2016 window will appear.
- The destination folder in it will already be populated as C:\Sage\Sage50_2016.
- Tap on the Install Button
- The files will be extracted to this folder.
- Next, the “Preparing to Install…” window will appear.
- This starts the process of installing Sage 50 Upgrade on your computer.
Installing Sage 50 Upgrade
If your computer is 64-bit, you may be prompted that your computer is using the default network protocol IPV6, which may cause Sage to run slowly. Answer the question “yes” to convert to IPV4. Continue with the following steps:
- Read the information and indications on the window, and then choose Next.
- Read the license agreement and choose the checkbox if you agree to the terms. Choose Next.
- You may be asked to set up your firewall so that Sage can be installed. If so follow the on-screen instructions. Click Next
- Enter the serial number you received in the email and click Next
- On the Upgrade Options screen, choose “Yes” to permit Sage 50 Upgrade to change your older version. Tap on next.
- The Summary screen will record programs and data places. You can skip the check mark to add the Sage 50 shortcut to the desktop (and quick launch toolbar if wanted). Tap on Install to install Sage 50.
- Note: If your computer doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements, you will get a notification.
- Warning: If you receive a warning from your firewall software during the installation process, be sure to choose Allow or Unblock for these programs.
- When the installation is done the Installation Complete window appears. Check or uncheck checkbox options as wanted: then choose the Finish button to complete the installation.
After installation information
- The next step would be to open Sage 50, activate it, and convert your data.
- After Sage 50 opens choose your company and let it change using the conversion wizard. You have to do this for all the companies that you have used earlier in Sage 50.
- To activate Sage 50 tap on Help – Sage 50 Activation. You will get a prompt that says “you only have 10 uses left. You should activate your product soon”. Click Activate Online Now. The software will contact the Sage Server and then give you a window that says Activation Successful, Tap on OK.
- Click on Help – About Sage 50 Accounting to verify your activation. You will see your serial number and customer ID. It means that the product is registered.

- Open Sage 50.
- The activation prompt may appear. If not, select Help, Sage 50 Activation, Licensing, and Subscription Options.

- Tap on the product download page. You can locate a link to your product download in the email you received when you ordered your product. The subject of the email is the Sage download notification for order no.

- After this, you are asked to save the downloaded file. By default, the Sage 50 installation file may be saved in your Downloads folder. To install the product after it is downloaded, we suggest you skip the Launch setup after the download complete option. Tap on OK to begin the download.
- Sage Download Manager downloads the product installation file. This process may take some time depending on your Internet connection.
- Note: The Sage 50 is not installed at this point. After the file is downloaded, the installation wizard will automatically open to help you install the product.
- The file should be found where you chose to download it (by default, the file can be found in your Downloads folder).
